Global SME Finance Forum 2017

The Global SME Finance Forum 2017 gathered more than 500 senior executives from commercial banks, development finance institutions, fintech companies, as well as regulators in Berlin, Germany to focus on leveraging digital banking to serve MSMEs. The annual event, held from November 1-3, started with a full day of 12 study tours, followed by two days of keynotes and panel discussions from more than 70 experts such as Jingdong Hua of IFC, Ludger Schuknecht of the German Ministry of Finance, Carlos J. Menendez of Mastercard and Anju Patwardhan of CreditEase. FinTech and its potential (and potentially disruptive) impact on MSME financing was at the heart of all discussions.

With 234 institutions represented, the Forum also featured eight fintech demos and 16 business-to-business market places, where no less than 140 15-minute one-on-one introductory meetings happened.
